Fabric is magic

We make our t-shirts from GOTS certified organic cotton. GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard and it is recognised as the world’s leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entire organic textiles supply chain and requires compliance with social criteria as well.

organic cotton

..so how much better is organic cotton really?

Before we explain why organic cotton is good we need to talk about why conventional grown is bad. You might be surprised to know that conventional cotton accounts for nearly 25% of the insecticides and 10% of the pesticides used throughout the world. To make things worse, it is the 4th most fertilized crop.

  • Conventional grown cotton needs lots of pesticides and requires large amounts of water. This causes rivers to dry out and interferences with ecosystems and biodiversity.

  • But it’s not only ecosystems that are in danger. Small farmers in developing countries lack adequate equipment and knowledge on the use of pesticides. This causes pesticide poisoning and many commit suicide as a result of debt related, at least in part, to high chemical costs.

The benefits of choosing organic cotton

After reading about the environmental and social consequences of conventional grown cotton, the benefits of choosing organic cotton are clear.

Organic grown cotton ensures better health for consumers and farmers, environmental conservation, and cost savings for farmers.
